2A12 aerospace grade aluminum is a kind of high-strength hard aluminum, which can be strengthened by heat treatment; 2A12 aerospace grade aluminum spot welding has good weldability, and there is a tendency to form intercrystalline cracks when using gas welding and argon arc welding;
2A12 aerospace grade aluminum can be cut after cold hardening. The performance is still good. The corrosion resistance is not high, and anodizing and painting methods are often used or aluminum layers are added on the surface to improve the corrosion resistance.
2A12 aerospace grade aluminum Heat Treatment Specification:
1) Homogenization annealing: heating 480 ~ 495 °C; holding 12 ~ 14h; furnace cooling.
2) Fully annealed: heated 390-430°C; holding time 30-120min; furnace cooled to 300°C, air-cooled.
3) rapid annealing: heating 350 ~ 370 °C; holding time is 30 ~ 120min; air cooling.
4) Quenching and aging [1]: quenching 495 ~ 505 °C, water cooling; artificial aging 185 ~ 195 °C, 6 ~ 12h, air cooling; natural aging: room temperature 96h.
2A12 aerospace grade aluminum is mainly used for making all kinds of high-load parts and components (but not stamping parts forgings) such as aircraft skeleton parts, skins, bulkheads, wing ribs, wing spars, rivets and other working parts below 150 °C.
