2000 series aluminum alloys with copper as the main alloying element. They all belong to heat treatment strengthened aluminium alloys. They are usually called hard aluminium because of their high strength. They have good heat resistance and processability, but poor corrosion resistance, and intergranular corrosion will occur under certain conditions. Therefore, sheets often need to be coated with a pure aluminum layer, or a layer of 6 series alloys with electrochemical protection effect on the core plate, in order to improve its corrosion performance.
Al-Cu-Mg-Fe-Ni alloy has extremely complex chemical composition and phase composition, high strength at high temperature, and good technological properties. It is mainly used for forging parts working at 150-250 C. The room temperature strength of Al-Cu-Mn alloy is lower than that of Al-Cu-Mg alloy 2A12-2A14, but at 225-250 C or higher. The strength is higher than that of the two, and the process performance is good. It is easy to weld. It is mainly used in heat-resistant weldable structures and forgings.
In 1903, the crankcase of Wright Brothers'aircraft No. 1 was cast with Al-Cu alloy containing about 8% Cu. Since 1906, 2017, 2014 and 2024 alloys have been invented. Before 1944,
2000 series aluminum alloys accounted for more than 90% of the amount of aluminium used in aircraft structures. Even now, they are still one of the most used alloys in aircraft and spacecraft structures.
2000 series aluminum alloys produced by China Aluminum are mainly 2A01, 2A02, 2A10, 2A11, 2A12, 2A14, 2A16, 2B16, 2A50, 2B50, 2A70, 2014, 2017A, 2024, 2124, 2224, 2424, 2618A, 2219, 2090, 2091, 2196 and so on.
